And the luck just keeps on coming!

When this season is over, I think I should probably take Chris Johnson and Aaron Rodgers out for dinner to thank them for their contributions to my fantasy team. Seriously, the two of them have been my MVPs (though kudos should go to Reggie Wayne and Joseph Addai, too) and I’m feeling quite happy about my top dog status in the league right now.

This weekend I need to decide between the Giants D/ST and the Cardinals D/ST. At one point in time this was a no-brainer but with the Giants D/ST not playing as well and the Cardinals facing the hapless Rams, I’m just not sure where to turn this week. So tell me, my fine readers, what would you do?

In return, take a look at a few waiver wire links I provided on my blog this week. For more links, including some early start/sit and rankings, check out FFLibrarian.com:

Sara rocks, I love how the Librarian is ruling this league. That said, Sara roll with Cardinals D/ST this week!

Sara, you have keep me a winner in both leagues I play in so much love for that. The defense to defenitely play this week is the Bengals. We all saw what they did to the Steelers last week and Ravens the week before so I am sure that Oakland should be a slap around game for them.
Good Luck The Rest of The Way!!!!!!!!!!

Add to the fact that the Cardinals are playing better on the road then at home (in our league they have 90 pts for 4 away games & 57 pts for 5 home games), I’d start Arizona vs the weeker opponent…

I’d take the G-Men for a few reasons:

    1. Matt Ryan has been turning the ball over a lot as of late (8 ints and 2 fumbles in his last 4 games). Ryan on the road this year = bad!!! (5 games : 6 TD’s and 8 ints).

    2. The absence of Turner will hurt the Falcons offense. This will allow the Giants defense to focus on shutting down Roddy White and Tony Gonzalez.

    3. The Rams, while bad, will score on the AZ defense. I expect SJAX to have a huge game as part of the plan to keep Warner and the Cards offense off the field. Look for Bulger to throw quick slant routes to Avery and screens to SJAX to avoid the turnover/sack and to allow his fastest weapons to make plays with their feet. The Cards give up a lot of passing plays to RB’s. This is important because it will limit the turnover potential for AZ.

    4. The G-men have had 2 weeks to get healthy and prepare for this game. In spite of their 4 game losing streak, with Dallas and Philly both losing this past weekend, the NYG are only 1 game back. Look for Coughlin to get his troops fired up at home. Prediction : NYG-27 ATL – 10

    Hope this helps. Good luck!

Sara, I have the same 2 D/ST in one of my leagues. I’m a NY Giants fan, but this week I’m playing ARI. Having watched the Giants all season, it’s clear that their safeties and LBs are vulnerable, their pass rush is ineffective and they haven’t been forcing turovers. As far as ARI goes, they’re playing STL — ’nuff said.

Congratulations on dominating the BWW league!

Tough call on your defenses, but I’d probably go with ARI vs. STL.

    Good luck!

I’d roll with AZ. Couple of points AZ better chance for a blow out so STL will be playing catch up and greater chance for pick 6 or sack/fumble 6. Don’t we need a name for this?
sacable 6? Hmm, not really feeling that.
While G-men have better D their DBs are still suspect and ATL has weapons even with the Burner a DNP. Snelling solid, Norwood back? excellent yards per touch, and White and Gonzo to go along with a solid O-line. The did skunk Peppers (did have broken hand) last week.

Oh hey, nice job drafting in this league. I beat you wish you a couple of these guys over in your FFL league. I know I do!

The main thing I would think about is what is the weather gonna be like in NY. The falcons are a dome team. They have lost there running back. If it is gonna be windy and cold you would have to think they will have problems. Though if it is a nice pleasant day you can ride out the Cards. Though rams/cards could be a kind of trap game think GB/Tampa.

I’m leaning towards going with the theory that teams coming off the bye week do weel and on that count the NY Giants defense should be primed for a better outing than the AZ defense.

Cardinals. I’m a Giants fan and I don’t think they can be trusted at this point. Plus my gut says that Rams game last week was a fluke against a banged up Saints D.

    Always enjoy reading your content.

Roll with the Cardinals. They should be able to put plenty of pressure on Marc Bulger while forcing a few turnovers.

However, it’s only Wednesday and a lot can change pertaining to injuries, weather, etc.

I recently stumbled upon the FF Librarian page and have become a frequent visitor, and tossing aside the other inept information stations I visited previuosly. Its no miracle to me that the Librarian is dominating this league.

This week I think you have to roll with the ARZ Defense. Look at the opponent each team faces. Yeah, ATL wont have Turner, but they still possess a above average QB that has plenty of receiving options at WR and TE along with Snelling and possibly Norwood who could be back this week. The Cards face STL who has S Jax, but he’s getting murdered behind a swiss cheese offensive line and Bulger throwing to a bunch of nobody WRs. Sure, Avery has been decent, but Rogers Cromartie will make him a non factor. Id roll with the Cards all day.

Sara – It doesn’t matter which one you start. The one on the bench will score more!
Last week I had Wells, 49ers D/ST, and Maroney on the bench. I lost my game by 12.
I always look forward to your posts and I visit your website daily. Good luck in all you strive for.

    Sara,

You should start the Cardinals defense. I would probably start any defense against the Rams. Here’s some stats to convince you.
The Cardinals D/ST have more fantasy points per game than the Giants D/ST (8.2-7.1). And the Rams offense has scored less points per game than the Falcons offense (11.1 to 24.6).

Sara, I’d go with the Cards. They did well last week against a better team than the Rams despite missing Okefor and Hayes. The two ints in the 5-yard line sealed the ‘Hawks fate. The Giants have been a disappointment overall (although Steve Smith was off to a great start for my fantasy team), including their “celebrated” but absent D.

Good luck and keep the wins coming!

    Sara,

Don’t remember when I started reading your blog, but it aided my run to a league championship last year, so thank you – that said, I’m more pro-Cards than I am anti-Giants. It’s a D/ST, relax, have a homebrew. You don’t need luck if this is the toughest decision of the week. Cheers!

the “hapless” rams almost beat the saints last week… S Jax is on fire and Bulger is looking better. i say Jints all the way. they’re coming off a buy with some “splainin’ to do” about their last 4 losses. i see them smashing everyone in every way next week!

Hard to go against the Bengals this week, they are winning with defense and starting a new QB who likes to scramble, very possible Jamarcus has to come back in and in a funk. A shutout is possible here.

Sara – your links and commentary are a must-read every morning. The last 9 weeks have not been the same for me. I am so afraid of steering you wrong, but I think the Giants D will really step up this week. They had a bye and have been pushed around a lot of late. That ‘underdog’/underappreciated feeling has lately translated into strong results come Sunday. I would start them vs Arizona D who will likely give up some late meaningless yards.
