Playoffs are here!

I’ve never played in a league where each round of the playoffs is spread over two weeks – I kind of like it, it takes away a bit of the random luck element. But let’s hope my squad is up for the win this week! And that’s where you all come in, my friends. I could use your sage advice.

I’m yet again wondering who I should play in my flex spot. I’m deciding between Buckhalter, Britt, and Edwards. For my D/ST spot, I’ve got the Cardinals plugged in for now (against the Niners) but am considering grabbing the Titans just thanks to their sweet matchup against the Rams. More than likely I’ll just roll with the Cardinals, but I’d love your thoughts.

In the meantime, check out this excerpt of some waiver wire links from my FFLibrarian blog:

We’ve got lots of waiver wire links still churning out:

I’m currently running w/ Tennessee this week, and Arizona in the playoffs (if I make it). Somehow we could potentially have 5 teams at 8-6 vying for the final 3 spots. Hopefully Tennessee can boost my point totals some!

Any D/ST against the Rams is a good play, and probably better than the Cardinals as the 49s can put up points. I also like Britt’s chances for a TD against the Rams, so he’d be my flex play. Buckhalter splits carries too much with Moreno, and Edwards is a disaster that you can only depend on to disappoint week in and week out (and this from a Michigan grad). Then again, as I wallow in mediocrity in most of my competitive leagues, my advice may be somewhat suspect.

our league is all individual scoring with idp, playoffs begin with the nfl playoffs, all the rules are non-standard idp for at least 25 yrs – brain cells are fading so not really sure when we started. thanks for the links, I’m in 3rd catching up to 1st

I would pick up Titans D for week 14 and then drop them after week 14 – then for week 15 and week 16 pick up Arizona D. If you don’t think you will be able to pick up Arizona D during week 15 then I would pick up Arizona D now and delay gratification. Arizona D is still a good start week 14 but the best for 15 and 16.

Britt could be a good start for your flex spot. Rams D is horrible against defending the pass. However, Titans could get an early lead and just lean on Superman a/k/a Chris Johnson to carry them to victory.

I love your site! I’ve been using it for two years now and crushed my league last year. This year I’m in eight leagues and made the playoffs in the majority of them and even got seeded well enought to avoid some of the first round madness. I’d go with Tennessee this week and Arizona from next week on out and I’d play Britt over Buckhalter or “hit me in the helmet with the ball” Edwards. Britt is coming on strong and is one of VY’s favorite targets.

I have to cry foul on the contest for the gift card. Sports Outlaw has you beat by four comments right now but most of his are simply “Good Luck,” whereas your posting has elicited more in-depth comments by your fans. Hell, two of his comments were by him. Do those count? It is now my personal mission for the week to ensure that you get more comments. He’s out of the playoffs and shouldn’t beat you based on “good luck” postings. Now that I think of it, I need to go back and see if those comments even count since that must have been last week’s posting since he was writing about possibly making it into the playoffs. Maybe he hasn’t even posted this week, which would mean instead of being down by four comments, you are up by a ton. I think I’ll check out the other blog pages too to see if there is anyone else we need to beat out to get you to #1 for the week. You’ve helped me get to the playoffs so it’s the least I can do (not to mention that a gift card to BWWs would be useful during the fantasy playoffs!!!…LOL)

I just reviewed the other BWW bloggers pages. Most of your compadres seem to be in absentee landlord status this week. Some of them haven’t posted for quite some time. Michael Blunda had a nice post about the 49ers 180. Most of the other material from the other bloggers was inane chatter (although I like Craig Davis’ thoughts about playing spoiler). Thank you for actually posting useful info on your BWW page as well as updates on your BWW fantasy team. I played in your 96 team league this year and scored great points. I averaged 95 points per week over the season but also faced the hardest opposition. The end result was that I had great stats until you got to the W-L column. There is nothing worse than fielding a good squad week after week and having the fantasy gods crap on you by handing your opponent historical performances. Oh well…

Sara, Britt seems like the best flex option. Enjoy this weather – and remember, morew is on the way (and unlike Denver, it doesn’t melt quickly)!
